March 9-10, 2019

Why take the CPW Advanced Performing Workshop? In the first course, the Performing Fundamentals, you were presented with a buffet: with a little of everything, all designed to inspire. Now in the Advanced Workshop, you’ll be immersed in more intensive hands-on and activity-based materials, where participants will create and do..

We’ve discovered how much our community is interested in storytelling. Day One is spent working on understanding, creating, and telling stories. We examine story structure, genres, and perspectives (first person, third person, character, and narrative). This includes key techniques in receiving and giving feedback plus coaching. Day Two takes that story knowledge and Christmas lore to create unique character back stories so you can each develop “your North Pole,” the well-spring for many stories. Along the way, we focus on what makes each of your individual characters unique, how to build buy-in from audiences, create character depth, and how to use ALL of this to enthrall your audience.

Throughout, we engage in performing exercises, with a bit of vocal, improv, and duo exercises, working in both small and large groups so participants can try out new skills in a supportive environment This is a workshop like no other. If you are a Christmas Performer looking to create real magic for your clients and real depth for your Character, you will truly enjoy the CPW Advanced Performing Workshop.

Local Workshops in SoCal

Greetings! I’m doing some planning and I could use your input.

I would like to teach two weekend workshops here in the southern California area.

(1) One workshop would be the Christmas Performer Workshop (General) where we touch on Performing Voice, Physicality, Improv, Character Work, Expressiveness, and Scene Breakdown.

(2) The second workshop would be focused on Storytelling, Building your North Pole, Building your repartee/patter, Duo Performing (actual exercises in class), and skills for non-Christmas gigs, too.

They would probably be based in the San Fernando Valley. The more attendees, the more affordable I can offer them. Just as a show of hands, would you be interested in workshop 1, 2, or both?

Feel free to share and drop me a line. Thanks, True
